During the meeting, the Committee took into consideration the fact that the Central Election Committee by its decree of August 6, 2012 approved the decision to include the request to the draft State Budget of Ukraine for 2013 regarding the expenditure amount for local elections (including expenses on holding elections of Kyiv City Mayor and deputies of Kyiv City Council) and to fix it at the level of UAH 51,3 million. At the same time, the Law “On the State Budget of Ukraine for 2013” allocates only UAH 19 million for subventions from sate budget to local budgets to hold such elections.
By result of discussion, the Committee agreed to
address the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, Ministry of Finance of Ukraine,
and the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Budget with a request to take into account
the stand of the Central Election Committee and increase the amount of election
funding while considering the bill on amendments to the Law “On Sate Budget of
Ukraine for 2013”. Davyd Zhvaniya referred the respective requests to the
abovementioned state bodies.
